From BooklistGeared to middle-grade classroom assignments, this title in the America the Beautiful series is also a fun read, with a chatty style, open design, and color photos, maps, screens, and charts on just when it comes to each spread. Students doing exploration for reports will welcome the broad back matter with up-to-date online resources and with suggestions for projects in history, science, technology, math, writing, art, and more; and all around each elaborate chapter––on the land, First Peoples, exploration and settlement, today’s cities, government, economy, and places to visit––there are mini-bio screens with Web internet sites to find out when it comes to primary people, from Geronimo and César Chávez to Sandra Day O’Connor and John McCain. The final travel guide uses clear maps to talk in regards to the Grand Canyon, the Hopi reservation, sports events, museums, and more stimulating places to visit online and on the ground. A fantastic series for middle school state reports! By D. Fowler Wow, wow, wow . . . there is genuinely a lot to know in regards to Arizona. Did you know that the original inhabitants of Arizona arrived more than 12,000 years ago? It wasn’t until 1250-1450 that the Navaho and Apache tribes arrived on the scene. There is a time line in this book that travels from the ice age right up to the time the Arizona Diamondbacks won the World Series and beyond. This marvelous book is jam-packed full of comprehensive, instructional material.
The reader may find Geo-Facts, selective information with regards to the topography, FAQs, a time line, mini-bios, “WOW Factors” (unusual tidbits), a travel guide, projects, resources and much more. The chapters include: 1) Land 2) First People 3) Exploration and Settlement 4) Growth and Change 5) More Modern times 6) People 7) Government Economy and 9) Travel Guide.
Any student wanting to finish a report on the states, or plainly read regarding them, will want to take a look at this book and others in this Scholastic series. They are bright, busy, very eye-catching to say not one thing of the wow element in the selective information department. Do you know what the state fish is? If not, you may find this and a load of other interesting facts in this book!

Author was asleep at the keyboard. Editors, too. By Mark Pfennigstag How did this edition TOTALLY omit any mention of Barringer Crater — the best -preserved meteoric affect crater in the world, located just south of Hwy 40 amongst Flagstaff and Holbrook? Absolutely no reference on maps or in the text of the 4200 ft wide, 570 foot deep crater caused by the affect of a giant meteor 50,000 years ago — one of the world’s greatest and most astonishing natural features, so much like the lunar surface that NASA applied it for training grounds for their Apollo missions. Such an omission is a substantial oversight. What else have they left out that was of major importance?
